The month of October is full of creeps, blood, guts and bumps in night. You have Halloween, haunted houses and an immeasurable amount of horror films. While some of these seasonal blessings are great, they only last as long as the candy corn and those delicious marshmallow pumpkins. Not horror films;horror films transcend through every season.
Independently made classics like Halloween and even more recent, and soon-to-be classics like Let the Right One in for example, have and will influence filmmakers, probably forever.This contest is more of a celebration of the genre and the filmmakers than anything, but all is not right in the world of "horrodom". The genre demands fresh blood to continue and you're the victim.
We want this contest to lampoon new and rising filmmakers in hopes of bringing the horror genre back from the dead (all puns intended) but we need your help.

NO PURCHASE NECESSARY TO ENTER OR WIN. Void where prohibited. The Switronix Horror Short Film Contest ("The Contest") begins on Sept 28, 2011 and ends on October 31, 2011. Finalists will be announced on or around October 24, 2011. Winners will be announced on or around Oct 31, 2011.
ELIGIBILITY
Entrants must be 18 years of age, or have the consent of legal guardian to participate in contest.

Videos submitted should only run appx 5 to 8 minutes these videos should already be shot, directed, edited and done*, videos will be posted on the Switronix Facebook once the finalists have been decided
*We are not asking you to make a movie, we are asking you to submit an already made short film that you have produced within the last 10 years.
RULES FOR SUBMISSION
Submissions must be original, unpublished, created solely by the Entrant(s), and predominantly written and spoken in English. All entry submissions must not infringe on any third party rights and if applicable, entrant has obtained permission from anyone who helped direct or produce the film, including a representation from the person(s) that their contribution to the film does not violate third party rights. By submitting your entry, you are stating to Switronix that you have secured any and all rights necessary for any and all content included in your short film. At any point, Switronix may request any and all release agreements and/or content sources for your short film. Please note that if you are under 18, you must have your parent's or legal guardian's consent to enter the contest and grant sponsors the rights you grant in these rules. Switronix shall have the right to edit and publish all entries as Switronix deems fit and may publish and republish in whole or in part in all media now known or hereafter devised in perpetuity without additional compensation. Entries will not be acknowledged or returned. You may enter as many times as you wish. Illegible entries are void. Submission of an Entry further constitutes the Entrant's consent or in the case of a minor, the parent's or legal guardian's consent, to irrevocably assign and transfer to Sponsors any and all rights, title, and interests in Entry, including, without limitation, all copyrights, and to use Entrants' names, hometowns, and likenesses and biographies without further compensation, for advertising or publicity purposes (except where prohibited by law). This is not an express or implied application for employment.
JUDGING
Preliminary Round: On or shortly after October 11th, 2011, a group of appropriate finalists will be chosen by no less than five employees of Switronix based on the following weighted criteria:
Adherence to the Theme
Technical Proficiency
Creativity & Originality of the Story and the Method of Storytelling
If Switronix receives fewer than 10 total qualifying entries, Switronix reserve the right to terminate the contest.
Winner Announcement: On or about October 31st, 2011, the winner will be announced and posted to the homepage of www.switronix.com and on the Switronix Facebook and Twitter feed. The decisions of the Switronix judges are final and Entrants agree to be bound by these decisions.
HOW TO WIN
The submitted films of the finalists will be posted on the Switronix Facebook page where they will be voted on by being "Liked", the films with the most likes wins. So encourage your friends to like Switronix and VOTE.
FIRST PLACE
Subject to eligibility and compliance with these Official Rules, the Grand Prize Winner will be awarded the stated prize package : To be released TorchLED BOLT
SECOND PLACE
Subject to eligibility and compliance with these Official Rules, the Second Place Winner will be awarded the stated prize package: TL-50

All Entrants assume all liability for any injury or damages caused or claimed to be caused by their participation in this contest. ALL NOMINEES RELEASE Switronix AND THEIR RESPECTIVE ADVERTISING AND PROMOTION AGENCIES, THEIR PARENT, SUBSIDIARIES, AND JOINT VENTURE COMPANIES, AS WELL AS THEIR RESPECTIVE OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, AND EMPLOYEES, FROM ANY SUCH LIABILITY.
Sponsors, or their respective advertising and promotion agencies, their parent, subsidiary, and joint venture companies, as well as their respective officers, directors, and employees assume no responsibility for any injury (including but not limited to any personal injury), damage, or losses of any kind to any Entrant, or to any Entrant's or other person's computer, relating to or resulting from participating in this contest. The Sponsors and their respective advertising and promotion agencies, their parent, subsidiary, and joint venture companies, as well as their respective officers, directors, and employees are not responsible for mail-in entries that are illegible, incomplete, late, lost, or postage due, nor for technical, hardware, software, or telephone malfunctions of any kind, lost or unavailable network connections, or failed, incorrect, incomplete, inaccurate, garbled, or delayed electronic communications caused by the user or by any of the equipment or programming associated with or utilized in this event or by any human error which may occur in the processing of the entries in this event. If for any reason the Competition is not capable of running as originally planned, or if infection by a computer (or similar) virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, actions by Entrants, fraud, technical failures, or any other causes, in the sole opinion of Sponsors corrupts or affects the administration, security, fairness, integrity, or proper conduct of the Competition, Sponsors reserve the right, in its sole discretion, to disqualify any individual implicated in such action and/or to cancel, terminate, extend, modify, or suspend the Competition, and select the Winner from all eligible entries received. Sponsors reserve the right to terminate the entry period prior to its scheduled end date and to choose among entries received prior to the date of such termination.
